Clear a Jam Rear message by cooling the printer, opening the rear and fuser covers and carefully removing paper trapped around the fuser.

Printer message: Jam 2-sided

Clear a Jam 2-sided message by checking the duplex tray and rear of the printer for trapped paper, taking care around hot internal parts.

Connect the printer to a WPS-compatible wireless router from the printer's Network menu without manually entering the Wi-Fi password.

If a Brother printer is connected by Wi-Fi but will not print from Windows, check for printer errors, confirm the computer and printer are on the expected network, clear the print queue and repair or recreate the wireless connection if necessary.

If a Brother printer will not print over Wi-Fi from a Mac, check the printer for errors, confirm the Mac and printer are using the expected network, check the print queue and reconnect or re-add the printer if necessary.

Printer message: Cartridge Error

Cartridge Error normally means the toner cartridge is not installed correctly in the drum unit or the combined assembly is not seated correctly.

Printer message: No Toner

No Toner usually means the toner cartridge or toner-and-drum assembly is not installed correctly.

Printer message: Wrong Toner

Wrong Toner means the installed toner cartridge reference is not compatible with the printer.

Printer message: Drum !

The Drum ! message can indicate a dirty corona wire, an incorrectly installed toner/drum assembly or a drum unit that has reached the end of its life.

Printer message: Toner Low / Prepare New Toner Cartridge

Toner Low means the toner cartridge is approaching the end of its expected life, but printing can normally continue while print quality remains acceptable.

Printer message: Toner Low / Replace Toner / Toner Ended remains after toner replacement

If Toner Low, Replace Toner or Toner Ended remains after replacement, first confirm that a new, correctly specified toner cartridge—not the separate drum unit—was installed.

Printer message: Drum End Soon

Drum End Soon means the drum unit is approaching the end of its expected life. Printing can normally continue until quality becomes unacceptable or Replace Drum appears.

Printer message: Replace Drum / Drum End Soon remains after drum replacement

If Replace Drum or Drum End Soon remains after fitting a new drum, the drum counter may not have been reset.

Printer message: Offline / Paused

If the printer shows Offline or Paused on your computer, check the printer itself first, then confirm the correct Brother printer is selected and clear any paused or stuck print jobs.
